KEANE LINED UP FOR LA GALAXY COACH ROLE

Former Ireland striker Robbie Keane is in line to return to the MLS as the coach of his former club La Galaxy where he scored 92 goals and recorded 51 assists as well as winning three MLS cups more than he scored for his national team.

Keane proposed return is expected to be a major relief for the FAI as well as the incoming CEO Jonathan Hill who is expected to end his tie with the FAI and that is expected to help him clear one major financial and logistical headache which the FAI has been unable to resolve for several months.

On their part, LA Galaxy has had a nightmarish start to the new season, with the dismal record of four wins in sixteen games, and to make the start even more compounding, they have lost their last six games in a row and their most recent defeat coming at home against San Jose Earthquakes although they turned the clock against Vancouver on Monday winning the keenly contested match by one goal to nothing and will be hoping to continue their surge when they face LAFC on Sunday.

However, this recent win should not stop the former Ireland striker from taking the job and neither will it stop the current coach from facing the sack.

Guillermo Barros Schelottowho joined the club from Boca Junior in 2019 after winning two Argentine Primera division may be spending his last days at the club with the impending coming of Robbie Keane and his shadow looming large at the club.

Keane is a cult hero in LA Galaxy and he is still highly-regarded for his exploit with the club and it is widely reported that the club recommended their former player to the Dubliner when they were in search of a new boss.
